Standing desks or sit-stand desks are used by a person to vary their posture while working. It provides workers with the choice to sit or stand, thus promoting a more active way of working rather than sitting all the time. Throughout Scandinavia, adjustable height desks are commonplace. Over 90% of the workforce that use computers in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark work at sit-stand desks. In Sweden, employee wellbeing is standard practice. Whereas in the UK there's a tendency for businesses to treat workplace as a cost, and not seeing it as an investment.

They encourage staff to be more active while kick-starting one's metabolism helping burn more calories, improve blood circulation, minimise slouching and help with breathing which also enhances concentration.
